Incredible Memory Annapurna Base Camp

We had an amazing week in Annapurna, and we’re super grateful to Ram for being such a great guide. He was fun to be around, flexible with our plans, and answered all our questions about the area. Thanks to him, our trip was everything we’d hoped for and more. We’d love to do another trek with him in the future!

Annapurna Magic

We had a fantastic Annapurna trekking with Visit Himalaya Trek. The views are absolutely stunning. Our guide Ram was skillful, helpful and super kind - keeping a perfect balance between being present and being in the background on the right times. We had an unforgettable experience.

Just Go There And See For Yourself

When I E-mailed Himal that I would first come to Nepal to meet him, he visited me in the Guesthouse and gave me the advice I needed to start my Trek. Instead of booking a Trek at a company based in the North of Europe, I wanted to book at a Kathmandu-based company. So I did.

For me, it was the first time in Nepal and the first time to do a Trek. Doing The Annapurna Base Camp Trek solo with a Guide and Porter was the advice from Himal. So I did. So we did, the three of us.

The big advantage of going solo instead of joining a group is that you can have your own tempo, stop anytime to rest, and spend some time on a spot that is special to you.

The Guide and Porter are not in a rush so they will wait for you. Next to that, I did this Trek one week before high season, although the Monsoon was not completely over, the number of tourists was still low so therefore it was nice and quiet in the Himalayan mountains.

And when it comes to Visit Himalaya Treks, the Trek is easygoing because everything will be arranged so that yo can concentrate on the Trek and the endless stairs you need to climb. Lots of times you will find yourself in the clouds until the sky clears and shows spectacular views of the highest mountains in the world.

Some physical training and protective clothes are essential for doing a Trek in the mountains but if you go solo you will have enough time to adjust to new the conditions. Take your time, enjoy the Trek, and never stop trying.

So if you have a plan to visit Nepal and the Himalayas just contact Himal and he will guide you safely through the landscape and culture. Meanwhile, you will have a lovely holiday and invest your money directly in the local economy.

Our trekking to Annapurna Base Camp

Our first experience to the Himalayas could not have been better. Himal & Raj tiredlessly helped us with all our questions prior to our trip and once we reached Kathmandu, they made us feel so welcome. The service from their team is truly special. Once our trip really started, our guide Krisha and our porter Dipak were such a pleasure to trek with. Their knowledge and sheer joy they have in their work made it feel we were trekking with friends. If we could, we would give a 6 out of 5!!!! Maickel & Merijn from The Netherlands - March 2019.

Great time doing the Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Recently finished a great 2.5-week vacation with the team at Visit Himalaya Treks seeing Kathmandu and trekking to Annapurna Base camp. Everyone on the team we dealt with was a pleasure to talk to and very professional. It's a company started by former Nepali guides who are really knowledgeable.

In planning the trip we mainly dealt with Himal who was very helpful and patient with the dozens of questions we had. Once we landed in Nepal we were greeted at the airport by Rajan who took us to our hotel and handled the rest of our planning. The hotel they had brought us to and had a great breakfast as well as chai and espresso. The next morning we were taken by our very knowledgeable guide for the day, Naveen, to a number of sights in Kathmandu.

We were originally planning for Everest Base Camp, but after a day and a half at the airport due to some weather and air traffic issues on the flight to Lukla we would have been left with no buffer days on our return, so made the decision to do Annapurna instead. Rajan and his team hand already set up the itinerary and made all the necessary arrangements even during the high season. They also included a mountain flight so we'd still get to see Everest up close.

The trek itself was amazing, we were fortunate to have great weather so had spectacular views ever morning, and particularly on the day we went to Base camp we had clear views in every direction. The food/chai was also consistently great, and having hiked all day made it taste better.

The only negative from the trip was the delays at the airport that appear to be quite common, but of course not the fault of the team at Visit Himalaya Treks. Just something to factor when scheduling flights.

The whole team we dealt with were genuinely interested in making sure we had a good time. Since we had decided to do ABC at the last minute in peak season we were not expecting to easily find lodging. Our guide, Balkumar, would go out of his way to run ahead to the villages he knew would be busy and make sure we always had a room to sleep in, even when people trekking faster than us could only find space in dining rooms. He was also great at managing the itinerary based on our pace and ability to walk each day, pushing us on days when we had extra energy and could shorten the next day's trek, and stopping us on time when we were tired. Our porter, Purna, would help out with guiding us when Balkumar had to run ahead.

The quality of lodges varied village to village, but we were consistently put up in the better lodges with the best views throughout the trek, and the hotel in Kathmandu was great. October -2018.

FAQs

We always try to be flexible to design the trip itinerary for our client’s needs. However, if you are not convinced as our suggested itinerary then off-course you are always welcome to customize or change the trip itinerary.

Holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek, we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation, and food.

An average physical fitness should be maintained prior to booking a trek. Any sort of illness or recent medical problems should be mentioned while booking a trip. Most of our itineraries are prepared to give you maximum time to acclimatize and pace-setting on the treks would be done according to your convenience. If you are having regular medication then tell us before the trip started which would be better for us to give you the physical feedback.

Our main concern is your safety. We never compromised on your safety during the Trekking and all our guides are properly trained and well equipped to take care of our client's safety even in remote areas as well.

There would be always back support in case of an emergency situation like severe high-altitude sickness or accident (which is least expected), you will be sent to the nearest hospital, if possible, otherwise rescued by a helicopter and sent you to the hospital as soon as possible. Since you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred for the use of such emergency services, please make sure that your travel insurance covers both- medical and emergency evacuation costs.

It is not a problem at all because in a mountain most of the tea houses/lodges serve vegetarian food as well and our guide will take care at the time of cooking and on a camping trek, our cook and staffs will care all about the food section.

Most of the lodges in the mountains are basic like a guest house or tea house style. In a few major settlements Lodges are upgraded, where are the possibilities we provide you with the best accommodation! Also, it depends upon the service packages.

Lately, most of the teahouses have electricity supply even with solar panels. So, charging your gadgets is not a problem at all. But charging your battery you should have to pay an additional fee (US$ 1 to 3 approx. per hour.), in order to get your gadgets to be charged.

Now a day’s most of the major village has a cell phone network connection. However, in a remote area where cell phone does not work, and even if there is not any other communication access then we send satellite phone along with our guide so you can easily be in touch with your family.

Yes, either you can store at the same hotel as you stayed or we can store your goods with us safely in our office free of cost.

The luggage must not exceed up to 20 kilograms. A trekking helper (porter) carries the baggage of fewer than 20 kilograms. This bag can be received at the end of each day’s trek and you should carry the rest of the weight as a day bag with all your money and valuables inside it.

This is a difficult thing to gauge. We have seen everything from USD 25 to USD 900 per person for guides and porters. Tipping is not required, but a small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide. However, we recommend you to spend a minimum of 10% of your total trip cost for tipping the entire local staff.
