Drive to Manthali and Fly to Lukla.
We will fly from Ramechhap, Manthali to Lukla in March, April, May, October, and November. At this time of year, the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport will see heavy traffic. As a result, we will need to drive to Manthali and then fly to Lukla. Upon waking at one in the morning, we will board a tourist bus or jeep that will take us eastward through Banepa, Dhulikhel, and Bhakundebesi. It will take us four hours to arrive at Manthali Airport. The plane will next fly us to Lukla, which will take around twenty minutes to reach Lukla.

Direct Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.
The direct flight from Kathmandu to Lukla lasts around 35 minutes. With its breathtaking views of the northern mountains, the 35-minute flight will be fantastic. The flight is appropriate in January, February, June, July, August, September, and December. We will be leaving the hotel early in the morning and arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport after a 20-minute drive. The aircraft will then depart Kathmandu and proceed northeast. During the flight, the view of the villages and the lush, green mountains provides the most appealing experience. After landing at Tenzing Hillary Airport, the trek begins at Phakding. In three to four hours of trekking, we will reach Phakding by passing through the Sherpa communities along the Dudh Koshi.

The fresh morning breeze in Phakding boosts energy and enthusiasm for the trek. As we rise the trail, we get glimpses of the Himalayas passing through lush oak woodlands. The beautiful backdrop of the pine forest greets us as we cross the suspension bridge while soaking in the pleasant murmuring of the river. While trekking along the edge of Sagarmatha National Park, the Himalayan landscape remains breathtaking. Praying flags that flicker along the trail showcase the Sherpa communities' cultures. After some hours, the picturesque village of Namche Bazaar greets us, with the Himalayas beaming in the backdrop. On this particular day, we will spend the night at Namche Bazaar.

In a trek, the day of acclimatization is the most crucial. Today we will go on a short ascend to Everest View Hotel. The Everest panorama from the Everest View Hotel offers us a truly magnificent atmosphere. This hotel provides a spectacular view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Along with that, we will have a typical Nepalese lunch before returning to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar serves as the Everest region's main hub. There are several traditional stores and cozy teashops in the exquisite Sherpa town where we may enjoy our time. In the remaining time, there will also be an exploration of the neighboring communities and museums. Overnight will be in Namche Bazaar at the same hotel.

Altitude: 3800 m Accommodation: Tea House / Lodge Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The Namche Bazaar's morning ambiance provides an excellent spirit to begin the day. The trek gradually ascends onward, with the downhill and uphill trials. The trail becomes narrower as it follows the Dudh Koshi River through the lovely Rhododendron forest. Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest become increasingly visible. There will be teashops along the way in the Sherpa settlement where we will stop for a while before continuing on our trek. The breathtaking views contribute to the trek's incredible beauty. Within a few hours, we will arrive at Tengboche, a calm Sherpa community. The prayer flags, mani walls, and sculptures around the Tengboches symbolize Tibetan Nepalese culture. In the evening, we will visit Tengboche Monastery, which is also one of Nepal's notable monasteries.

The vista of the Himalayas in the morning is breathtaking, especially with the prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. We'll depart Tengboche and continue north. The next sight before us is the narrow alpine woodland, with progressively denser vegetation. We'll gradually make our way to the Imja Settlement. Imja is a picturesque village offering a great view of Ama Dablam and Nuptse. Because of its rugged landscape, the Imja Valley has a genuine Himalayan feel to it. The picturesque community of Dingboche greets us as we follow the shadow of the Himalayas, encompassing the island peak. With prayer flags, mani walls, and other Buddhist-inspired arts and crafts, the small sherpa community has a lot to offer. The Dingboche teahouse is where the overnight stay will take place.

This is the second acclimatization day following the Namche. Relaxing at Dingboche is a wonderful portion of the trek. We will trek to Nangkartsang Peak and experience incredible vistas of Nuptse, Everest, Lhotse, and  Makalu. After spending some time here, we will head back to Dingboche. The small Sherpa settlement of Dingboche is cut off from the outside world. The crisp evening air makes it ideal for visiting the surrounding communities.

The trek starts early in the morning from the Dingboche. The scenery becomes rocky and barren, and we will arrive at Thukla after several hours of trekking. Thukla is the trek's brief rest point when the majority of the trekkers stop before proceeding. Continuing the trek, there will be stone tributes to the trekkers who died while attempting to reach the summit of Mount Everest and other Himalayan Peaks in the Khumbu region of Nepal.  The trail eventually will lead us to the rough and steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Crossing the moraine, serene Lobuche will greet us stay overnight at Lobuche.

The stunning sunrise vista of Mount Pumori from Lobuche will be remarkable. Today, the trekking trial requires considerable effort since, at a certain point, the terrain becomes rough and steeply uphill. Our ascend will follow the Khumbu Glacier once we depart from the Lobuche. Following the trial, the gorgeous Himalayas and refreshing glaciers provide an enjoyable setting. Within a few hours, the stunning Himalayan settlement of Gorakshep becomes visible.

After resting in Gorakshep, we will proceed on to the Everest Base Camp. The icy and rocky trial manages to drain some of our trekking stamina. After reaching Everest Base Camp, the panoramas of Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Lho La, and Nuptse west face, become more readily visible. This will be a great accomplishment since we will finally be able to appreciate the natural splendor of the Everest region from the Everest Base Camp. The vista of the Khumbu Icefall and Khumbu Glacier adds to the elegance. After savoring the landscape from Everest Base Camp, we will return to Gorakhsep, where we will spend the night.

Incredibly 14 Days Everest Base Camp Trekking.

We were incredibly fortunate to trek Everest Base Camp Trekking with Visit Himalaya Treks.

Himal, the owner of Visit Himalaya Treks, was in contact with us through every step of our planning phase; answering even our most benign questions. He gave great advice on Visas, travel insurance, and hotels (we wanted to stay two additional days before the trek). Throughout our trek he and our guide kept our friends and family updated on our progress through Facebook posts. He made us feel like family from the moment we stepped into his office.

Our guide, Ngima, was extremely professional and incredibly experienced. He greeted us at the airport and his smile and adventurous, positive nature were immediately infectious! He also shared with us his journey to becoming a guide. Ngima solved every little ‘problem’ that arose on the trek (in the mountains nothing is certain) with skill and grace. We never had to worry about anything-we knew he had everything under control. He made sure we ate enough every day (key to avoiding AMS) and that we had a great time-even teaching us some card games!

If you’re adventurous and have a love for the outdoors Everest Base Camp will be one of the best things you’ll ever do. It takes a bit of planning and is not an easy Sunday stroll so you’ll want to be sure to book with a company that will assist you with the planning before, encourage and motivate you during, and become your family after.

We were sad to say goodbye to Himal and Ngima and we’ll definitely go back to tackle another of the incredible Himalayan treks with Visit Himalaya Treks.

14 Days Everest Base Camp Trekking With Chitwan National Park Tour

Had an absolute blast with my girlfriend doing the 14-day Everest base camp trek! Himal and Raj were extremely helpful with answering any questions we had about the trek. when we reached Lukla airport we were greeted by our amazing guide Ram who did an amazing job guiding us through the beautiful Himalayan Ranges. He made our trip effortless and was always in high spirits! After our trek in the Himalayas, we decided to do a trip To Chitwan National Park for 3 nights which I highly recommend if you have the time.

The guide was yet again experienced and informative and there were plenty of exciting things to do for each of the action-packed Days. overall, everything went smoothly, Himal and Raj were very helpful with anything we needed and always offered friendly services such as taking us to the hotel and picking us up which made our stay in Kathmandu also more pleasant. I could not recommend this company enough as It was one of the most memorable experiences I have had.
Thank you Himal, Raj, and the VHT team for the wonderful holidays.

FAQs

Yes, of course, the Everest Base Camp Trek requires porters and guides, who will assist you along with the difficult terrain. Guides will help you in a variety of situations, such as unexpected circumstances, on trials, and give you background knowledge on associated places. Porters will also assist you with carrying your bulky baggage during the trial. Therefore, having a guide and porter you enjoy your lifetime Everest Base Camp Trekking full of joys.

A gradual and steady ascent, acclimatization days, drinking enough of water, and staying away from alcohol are all recommended to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Carry medication such as Diamox after speaking with a medical professional. Keep a tight eye on your health and be prepared to back down if any serious symptoms arise.

Trekking might take anywhere from five to eight hours a day, depending on the terrain and elevation gains. Certain days can be longer and more exhausting, particularly the ascents to Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp, while other days could be shorter to allow for acclimatization and relaxation.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended and is mandatory for the Everest Base Camp Trek. It should include coverage for medical costs, travel cancellations, emergency evacuation, and trekking at high altitudes. Without insurance, helicopter evacuation in the event of serious altitude sickness or injury can be quite costly.

Although it is possible to trek alone, it is best to join a group or hire a guide and porter for boosted enjoyment, safety, and assistance with backpacks. Trekking in groups offers company and the opportunity to share experiences, and guides may give valuable assistance and knowledge of the area. Also, if you wish to go on a solo trek, we can arrange a guide and porter so that you may fully experience our 14-day Everest Base Camp trek package.

The physical requirements of the Everest Base Camp Trekking require a moderate to high degree of fitness. Previous trekking experience is important, as is regular cardio and muscle training. You may better prepare your body for the long hiking days and elevation gains by doing treks with a backpack.

At tea houses, charging facilities are available at a cost of about USD 2 to 5. It is advised to have a backup battery bank or solar charger because the weather in the Everest region can change suddenly, disrupting power supplies.

The Everest Base Camp Trek route goes through Sherpa neighborhoods, providing opportunities for discovering the customs, culture, and way of life. You may tour monasteries, socialize with locals, and observe traditional Sherpa rituals. Depending on when you embark on the EBC trek, you may also be able to witness religious rites and festivals.
