Yala Peak Climbing Trip is the best introduction to Himalayan peak climbing and probably the safest way to have the ultimate climbing experience in Nepal. It is the easiest and most non-technical peak in Nepal which lies in the Langtang region, just north of the Kathmandu valley. Standing at an elevation of 5,500m, Yala Peak climbing offers wonderful views of Langtang Lirung, Naya Kang, Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, and Gangchempo.

Yala Peak climbing, the shortest trekking peak in Nepal, can be done in the shortest time, however, it needs a slower pace for proper acclimatization. Yala Peak Climbing trail takes you to the wild vicinity of the Tibetan Plateau as it is located closer to the Tibetan border following the ridge of high mountains. Langtang Valley stretches up to the Tibetan border and the Yala Peak expedition provides a unique opportunity to experience a culture that is greatly influenced by Tibetan heritage.

As the mountaineering trip to Yala Peak climbing goes through the Langtang National Park, the trail route offers spectacular natural scenery, and incredible landscapes along with a profusion of alpine wild species like Snow Leopard and Red Panda. The trekking trail to Yala Peak Base Camp, 4,800m is not strenuous and there are profusion of attractions to explore on the way route.

The camp lies at Karka, an alpine Yak grazing meadow. High above, the rocky south face of the peak and Yala Glacier on the southwest face is clearly seen from the base camp. The first section of ascending is quite difficult if there is snow on the approaches. The trail climbs up to the rocky ridge and makes several drops off and ascends before reaching the flat area. And comes the final section of the Yala Peak climbing trip with a 40m vertical snowy cliff leading up to the narrow snowy summit.

The best season for Yala Peak Climbing is (Mid-March to May) and (Mid-September to early December). If you prefer to avoid crowds, it is also possible to go climbing in Yala Peak during winter. The weather is quite crispy and cold but the mountain views are crystal clear.

DAY

1

Arrive in Kathmandu. (1335 meters

A representative from Visit Himalaya Treks Pvt. Ltd. trekking with the company’s display board will greet you outside the arrival terminal and transfer you to your Hotel.

Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

A full day guided tour to several of historical and spiritual attractions enlisted under the World Heritage Sites. The trek leader will meet the group for a meeting and provide a detailed briefing on the trek. All the required information regarding the trek would be provided.

Drive to Syabru Besi. (1,460 meters)

After breakfast, a private vehicle (car/bus) will pick you at your hotel. We drive to Syabru Besi via Dhunche. After Dhunche, the drive continues on a secondary road. It takes around 8 hours to reach Syabru Besi.

Trek to Lama Hotel. (2500 meters)

The trek starts with an ascent through forests and passes through Bamboo and Rimche and closely follows Langtang River till Rimche. A brief climb leads to Lama Hotel ending the first day’s trek. (About 5-6 hours).

Trek to the Langtang Village. (3,430 meters)

A gradual climb continues throughout the day and passes through a couple of teahouses at Ghoda Tabela. Slowly but steadily the trek enters the valley and ends at Langtang Village. (About 5 -6 hours)

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa. (3,830 meters)

The trek continues to travel further in the valley with the valley getting narrower towards the end of the day. But a small and brief climb once again takes the trek into the more wider valley and Kyanjin Gompa is right at the start of this valley. The day is relatively short as the trek enters into higher elevations. Langtang Lirung (7227 meters) towers above the valley and provides spectacular scenery. (About 4 hours)

Kyanjin Gompa exploration day

The day can be used to explore the area and for acclimatization. Langtang Glacier and some view points around Kyanjin are good options. Afternoon can be enjoyed by visiting old monastery of the village or the lakes nearby the village.

Trek to Yala Peak Base Camp (4600 meters

A morning climb of Tsergo Ri (4984 meters) provides stunning mountain panoramas that includes Shishapangma (8013 meters), Dorje Lakpa (6966 meters), Langtang Lirung (7227 meters). Another couple of hours gentle climb leads to the Base Camp. (4-5 hours)

Summit Yala Peak 5500 meters and return to Kyanjin Gompa

A steep climb of a ridge from Base Camp leads to the summit of Yala Peak. Summit offers views of Shishapangma (8013 meters), Dorje Lakpa (6966 meters), Langtang Lirung (7227 meters). After summit, retrace back to Kyanjin Gompa. (6-7 hours)

Trek back to Lama Hotel. (2500 meters)

The trek retraces back to Lama Hotel via same route. (5-6 hours)

Trek to Thulo Syabru. (2,210 meters)

The trek switches to descend mode in the morning and starts to climb in the afternoon finally ending the day at Thulo Syabru. This is also one of the biggest settlements of the region and also provides fantastic views of Langtang. (About 5 hours)

Trek to Dhunche 1960 meters about 4 hours

After breakfast trek to Dhunche through the pine forest and rhododendrons forest toward to village of Thulo Bharkhu. Now we join newly construction road lead us to Dhunche district headquarter of Rasuwa stay overnight at Teahouse.

Drive back to Kathmandu

After breakfast, a private vehicle (car/bus) will again pick you at your Teahouse. We drive back to Kathmandu. (7-8 hours drive)
