Everest Base Camp Trek With Visit Himalaya Treks

May 12 to 28 -2024

This was our first trip to Nepal and to tick off a big bucket list item - the Everest base camp trek!

We could not be more impressed with VHT and the organization of our trek. Himal and Raj made sure our trip was seamless from start to finish and helped us organize any gear hire, transport, etc. With everything taken care of, we could simply just enjoy the journey.

Our guide Ishwar and porter Nima were absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable of the Everest region and Nepali culture. Ishwar went to great lengths to make sure we were comfortable, and safe and always got our top-up of Dal Bhat! Thank you Ishwar for sharing all your insights, your support, and for making this the trek of a lifetime!

VHT have a lot of returning clients and we will no doubt be one of them! Looking forward to our next adventure in Nepal!

Everest Base Camp - Amazing Experience!

An amazing experience with Visit Himalaya Treks for my first time in Nepal doing the Everest Base Camp hike. Ramkaji was an excellent guide with whom I could talk about many different things (religion, economy, tradition, and culture in Nepal and around the world, etc.). He was friendly, caretaking, and a good partner whilst hiking. I was personally very touched about how this company makes you feel as a part of their family.

Despite having to turn around due to altitude sickness & gastro in Lobuche, they took good care of me in organizing medicine & helicopters, so that I could just focus on getting better.

I can heartily recommend Visit Himalaya Treks for any of your trips to Nepal! You will be in great hands and experience an unforgettable trip!

Amazing EBC Trek

We had a great time visiting Nepal for the first time and completing the Everest base camp trek with Visit Himalaya.

Himal and Raj were very helpful and looked after everything from the initial greeting to our airport drop-off.

Our guide Krishna was an absolute gem and looked after everything on the trek, making sure we were safe & comfortable, having the best meals, and learning about the culture, scenery, and fauna along the way.

While there were a few hiccups along the way with our flights to Lukla and road transportation, these were beyond the control of the company and everyone worked hard to sort things out and find alternatives quickly for us.

Overall it was a great first trek in the Himalayas and we will be looking to the company again for any future visits, including trekking again with our friend Krishna!

An Unforgettable Experience Everest Base Camp Trek

On the recommendation of our friends in the Powsers' Mountaineering club (see review; John T Nov 2017), we decided to Hike to EBC with Visit Himalaya Treks and the team met all of our expectations and more, never hesitating to go that extra mile.

Pre-trip communications were always clear and our inquiries always received a prompt reply. The information we received was clear and really helpful for our planning.

On arrival at Kathmandu airport, we were met and from that point, we were looked after throughout the entire trip through to departure.

Before embarking on our trek, we were taken on a guided tour of key sites in Kathmandu by our city guide, Mukhtar, who gave us a very informative introduction to the various sights and selected the most amazing lunch spot on a roof terrace overlooking the Boudanath Stupa.

Krishna, our trekking guide, was extremely knowledgeable on almost every aspect. Talking to other trekkers, we found that we'd visited monastries & had cultural opportunities that other's hadn't. If we asked a question that Krishna couldn't answer ("what's that flower called?"), he'd go out of his way to obtain an answer.

Guidance was supportive at all times and always tailored to our needs (we required a half-day rest before the Gorak Shep - EBC leg due to a case of AMS, our schedule was modified with the result that we also managed to climb Kala Patthar the following day).

Krishna was warm, welcoming and relaxed throughout the trek & was as enthusiastic throughout the whole experience as we were! We felt that by the end of our trip, we'd made a real friend! Special mention also to our porter Ram who's friendly presence accompanied us along the route.

On return to Kathmandu, Rajan invited us to to Himal's home to learn how to make momo's (easier said than done!) We were very warmly received by Himal and his family and had a great time, bordering on the hilarious demonstrating to our Nepalese hosts our westerner's skills in how not to make momos ; ).

All in all an amazing experience made all the better by the good folks at Visit Himalayas Treks. My fiancé has traveled widely through various parts of the world and described this trip as by far her best ever.

We both wholly recommend traveling with Visit Himalayas Treks and will return to Nepal to travel with them again...

Everest Base Camp Trek Solo

I have nothing but great things to say about visit himalaya treks. From the start, I was picked up and transferred to a very nice hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. I was greeted by one of the owners Rajan, who was one of the nicest people I have ever met, he helped me sort out all my gear (clothing, hiking poles. Etc) We had coffee and he explained the whole trek in detail, and constantly check up on me to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed ready for the trek, (great hospitality). I had a tour of Kathmandu on the second day. I had another guide who was equally great, we saw all the major sights in a very comfortable car.

One the third day Rajan came all the way to the airport 5 hours drive and back for him just to make sure I got on the plane safely, he helped to check my bag in and got my plane ticket all sorted, again amazing service! Once in mountains (lukla) I met will my trekking guide Ram. I can’t express how great Ram was he did absolutely everything for me, ordered all my meals, booked all my hotels (which where very comfortable) and made sure I was comfortable and satisfied the whole time. He was very knowledgeable about the region and I learnt a tremendous amount from him (Ram was amazing!). Over all the trip was incredible, I will definitely be doing another trip with visit Himalaya treks.

I would just like to say thank you again to Rajan, Ram, and the whole team for making my trip so memorable and enjoyable !!!

Do yourself a favor and book through visit Himalaya treks.

FAQs

We always try to be flexible to design the trip itinerary for our client’s needs. However, if you are not convinced as our suggested itinerary then off-course you are always welcome to customize or change the trip itinerary.

Holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek, we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation, and food.

An average physical fitness should be maintained prior to booking a trek. Any sort of illness or recent medical problems should be mentioned while booking a trip. Most of our itineraries are prepared to give you maximum time to acclimatize and pace-setting on the treks would be done according to your convenience. If you are having regular medication then tell us before the trip started which would be better for us to give you the physical feedback.

Our main concern is your safety. We never compromised on your safety during the Trekking and all our guides are properly trained and well equipped to take care of our client's safety even in remote areas as well.

There would be always back support in case of an emergency situation like severe high-altitude sickness or accident (which is least expected), you will be sent to the nearest hospital, if possible, otherwise rescued by a helicopter and sent you to the hospital as soon as possible. Since you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred for the use of such emergency services, please make sure that your travel insurance covers both- medical and emergency evacuation costs.

It is not a problem at all because in a mountain most of the tea houses/lodges serve vegetarian food as well and our guide will take care at the time of cooking and on a camping trek, our cook and staffs will care all about the food section.

Most of the lodges in the mountains are basic like a guest house or tea house style. In a few major settlements Lodges are upgraded, where are the possibilities we provide you with the best accommodation! Also, it depends upon the service packages.

Lately, most of the teahouses have electricity supply even with solar panels. So, charging your gadgets is not a problem at all. But charging your battery you should have to pay an additional fee (US$ 1 to 3 approx. per hour.), in order to get your gadgets to be charged.

Now a day’s most of the major village has a cell phone network connection. However, in a remote area where cell phone does not work, and even if there is not any other communication access then we send satellite phone along with our guide so you can easily be in touch with your family.

Yes, either you can store at the same hotel as you stayed or we can store your goods with us safely in our office free of cost.

The weight limit is 15 kg for the Lukla flight, including both your duffel pack (10kg and a daypack (5kg. If you exceed the weight limit, you will have to pay $2 - 5 for each extra kilo in the air terminal. We, therefore, suggest you pack as light a bag as possible.

This is a difficult thing to gauge. We have seen everything from USD 25 to USD 900 per person for guides and porters. Tipping is not required, but a small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide. However, we recommend you to spend a minimum of 10% of your total trip cost for tipping the entire local staff.
