One Of The Best Travel Experiences I’ve Ever Had

I did the 10-day Langtang Valley Trek with my sister in Jan/Feb, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.

The landscape is absolutely stunning—every single day felt like a highlight, with breathtaking views and a real sense of being immersed in nature. What made it even more special were the authentic encounters along the way. The region didn’t feel overcrowded at all, which made the whole journey much more peaceful and enjoyable. We seemed to hit the perfect travel season.

Our guide, Krishna, was exceptional. He has an incredible depth of knowledge about the culture(s), and we had many fascinating conversations throughout the trek. At the same time, he was very intuitive and gave us space whenever we wanted to enjoy the silence and take in the surroundings on our own. What I found especially impressive is that Krishna is a Hindu himself but has a deep understanding of Buddhism as well—something he deliberately studied further to better respond to the interests and needs of his clients. That really shows his dedication and professionalism.

The teahouses along the route were absolutely charming. They offered a great opportunity to connect with locals, sometimes through verbal/non-verbal conversation, sometimes just through shared moments—even without many words. It gave us a genuine glimpse into the local way of life, which I really appreciated.

Every evening, Krishna provided a clear and well-structured briefing about the next day. He always communicated the plan, what to expect, and made sure we felt prepared and comfortable. This level of organization made a big difference and added a lot of confidence to the whole experience.

He was also incredibly supportive, especially during more challenging moments. One of the most memorable parts was the early morning start to reach the peak in the dark—Krishna was a real mental support there and helped me overcome my anxiety.

We genuinely grew very fond of both Krishna and our porter Bola over the course of the trek. Their kindness, warmth, and dedication made this journey something truly special.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Krishna and Bola—and Visit Himalaya Treks—to anyone considering this trek.
Trip Date: January - 27 to February 05, 2026.

An Unforgettable First Trek In Nepal – Perfectly Organized From Start To Finish.

We completed the 10-day Langtang Valley Trek at the end of January / beginning of February, 2026, with Visit Himalaya Treks, and I honestly could not have asked for a better experience.

This was my first time in Nepal, my first multi-day trek, and I’m a beginner, traveling together with my sister. From the very beginning, Himal (the owner) made us feel completely safe and well taken care of. His communication before the trip was outstanding: very fast responses, clear and honest answers, extremely patient, and incredibly flexible in adapting the trek to our wishes and fitness level. I had concerns about whether my fitness would be sufficient, and he reassured me from day one that the guide would always adapt the pace if needed.

Everything was clearly explained and transparently priced in advance. There were no hidden costs and no surpriseson the ground. We didn’t have sleeping bags or trekking poles, which were lent to us without any hassle (no extra costs), and we were even gifted a duffel bag for the trek. The organization on site was flawless: We had a detailed briefing in Kathmandu the day before departure, and a very professional and punctual start to the trek.

Our guide, Krishna, was exceptional. His English is very good, and his knowledge of culture, religion, nature, wildlife, and local life is truly impressive. He always provided context, encouraged questions, and always had an answer. Beyond that, his personality made a huge difference: calm, professional, respectful, and genuinely caring. His pace was perfectly adapted to us, breaks were always possible, and his calm presence gave us a constant feeling of safety and confidence – especially important for first-time trekkers.

In the evenings, we often sat together by the chimney, talking and reflecting on the day. Krishna took care of absolutely everything: communication with teahouse staff, organizing meals, checking in on how we felt, and explaining options whenever decisions had to be made. He always let us decide, while giving us the necessary information to make informed choices.

Our porter, Bola, was just as amazing. He carried both of our heavy duffel bags, was incredibly reliable, respectful, and always smiling – no matter how hard the trail or how cold the weather was. On steep sections toward the end, he gave me real support and confidence. The daily distances were realistic and well planned. We felt challenged, but never pushed beyond our limits. We had regular tea breaks, lunch stops, and additional pauses whenever needed.

The teahouses were lovely, especially considering it was winter. Yes, January is cold, but with a sleeping bag and blankets, it was manageable – and we knew what we signed up for by trekking in winter. The food was consistently excellent, freshly cooked by locals, with both traditional Nepali dishes and Western options like pasta or pizza. One moment I will never forget was reaching the peak at around 4,400 m, after starting the day in complete darkness, and watching the sunrise over the mountains. It was pure magic.

I would recommend Visit Himalaya Treks without hesitation to anyone looking for a highly flexible, professional, and caring team. Krishna and Bola exceeded all our expectations, and this trek will stay with me for the rest of my life.

A perfect two treks in Nepal with Visit Himalaya

Where to even begin...in traveling around the world for the last 8 months, our two-week-long treks (first Langtang Valley, and second Mohare Danda community trek to Poon Hill) were hands down the best experiences we have had! From our first email to Himal, to our final sad goodbye to our wonderful guide Tek Babu Gurung, the whole experience was perfect.

Himal was always extremely quick to respond to emails and answer questions. When he knew how nervous I was about trekking (I have a fear of heights) he even waited until we were in Kathmandu and sent a car to pick us up from our hotel and bring us to his office so we could talk in person and address my concerns more easily! We never once felt pressured to book anything, and he was very understanding and easy to talk to. The prices were also very reasonable, and the company treated their guides and porters well, which was important to us when selecting a company. So we happily booked our first trek to the Langtang Valley. Our guide Tek, and Porter Purna were absolutely wonderful.

They were the most kind and positive people and were the reason we had such a good time on the trek. We were supplied with endless snacks, fruit, masala tea, and delicious meals. Tek always made sure we stayed at the best and most comfortable tea house, that we were hiking at a pace we could manage, and took the time to enjoy it and take plenty of pictures. He also taught us so much about the area, the different mountains, and his culture. The whole trek went perfectly, and we had such fun relaxing and playing card games with them in the evenings, and enjoying the beautiful scenery during the day. In fact, we had such a wonderful time that we immediately booked a second trek with Tek to Mohare Danda and Poon Hill.

Once again, everything from the private transport to the tea houses, to the local porter we hired went perfectly. I can’t overstate what a wonderful guide Tek is. We felt so well taken care of and enjoyed every minute of our two weeks with him. We were so sad to say goodbye to our friend, and will absolutely be coming back in the future for more treks with him. I cannot recommend this company highly enough! Thank you for a wonderful introduction to Nepal! December - 2018.

Langtang Valley Trek

We used Visit Himalaya Treks on the recommendation of friends who had worked with them a year earlier. From the start, Himal was very helpful & responsive to any questions or requests we had. Our guide, Ngima, and porter, Sambhu, were both very friendly & helpful throughout the trek, and despite a few little hiccups (dodgy knees & bad colds for a couple of days!), we had a good time. We certainly highly recommend Himal & his team at Visit Himalaya treks. April – 2018.

Langtang valley 10 days hike with Visit Himalaya Treks

Hi Himal & Team. Thank you for well organizing our Langtang Trek. We enjoyed so much our 2oth wedding anniversary trip.  Himal and the team at Visit Himalaya Treks are first-class individuals and run a first-class trekking company. Everything was great from the lodging to the guides to the beauty of the magnificent white sheen of the Himalayan mountain tops.

The best thing is that we always feel taken care of and looked after, which gives us peace of mind and the luxury of complete mental relaxation. We had a wonderful time for our 20th wedding anniversary (VHT even surprised us with a cake and party that night. Awesome!). Highly recommend this company for trekking and sightseeing. We miss you guys! October - 2016.

FAQs

We always try to be flexible in designing the trip itinerary for our client’s needs. However, if you are not convinced with our suggested itinerary then of course you are always welcome to customize or change the trip itinerary.

A holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek, we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation, and food.

An average physical fitness should be maintained before booking a trek. Any sort of illness or recent medical problems should be mentioned while booking a trip. Most of our itineraries are prepared to give you maximum time to acclimatize and pace-setting on the treks would be done according to your convenience. If you are taking regular medication then tell us before the trip starts which would be better for us to give you the physical feedback.

Our main concern is your safety. We never compromised on your safety during the Trekking and all our guides are properly trained and well equipped to take care of our client's safety in even the remote areas as well.

There would be always back support in case of an emergency like severe high-altitude sickness or accident (which is least expected), you will be sent to the nearest hospital if possible otherwise rescued by a helicopter and sent to the hospital as soon as possible. Since you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred for the use of such emergency services, please make sure that your travel insurance covers both- medical and emergency evacuation costs.

It is not a problem at all because in a mountain most of the tea houses/lodges serve vegetarian food as well and our guide will take care of the time cooking and on a camping trek, our cook and staff will care all about the food section.

Most of the lodges in the mountains are the basic ones like a guest house or tea house style. In a few major towns or settlements, where are the possibilities we provide you with the best accommodation? Also, it depends upon the service packages.

Lately, most of the teahouses have electricity supply even with solar panels. So, charging your gadgets is not a problem at all. But charging your battery you should have to pay an additional fee (US$ 1 to 3 approx. per hour.), to get your gadgets to be charged.

Now a day’s most of the major village has a cell phone network connection. However, in a remote area where cell phones do not work, and even if there is no other communication access then we send satellite phones along with our guide so you can always be in touch with your family.

Yes, either you can store the same hotel as you stayed or we can store your goods with us safely in our office free of cost.

The luggage must not exceed up to 20 kilos. A trekking helper (porter) carries baggage of less than 15 kilos. This bag can be received at the end of each day’s trek and you should carry the rest of the weight as a day bag with all your money and valuables inside it.

This is a difficult thing to gauge. We have seen everything from USD 25 to USD 900 per person for guides and porters. Tipping is not required, but a small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The Level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide. However, we recommend you spend a minimum of 10% of your total trip cost for tipping the entire local staff.
